🏁 George Russell Wins the Dutch GP Sprint!

The 2026 Dutch Grand Prix Sprint is complete at Zandvoort, and George Russell has taken the victory for Mercedes after an impressive performance from the front.

With Charles Leclerc charging through to second, Lando Norris completing the podium and Max Verstappen trying to fight his way forward in front of his home fans, the Sprint has given us plenty to talk about.

Here’s The Pit Wall’s reaction to the Dutch GP Sprint.

🏆 Russell Controls the Sprint

George Russell was the man to beat at Zandvoort.

Starting from pole position, the Mercedes driver got a strong launch and kept Lando Norris behind him into the opening corner.

Norris initially stayed close, but Russell remained in control and managed his race brilliantly.

Even when Charles Leclerc began closing in during the later stages, Russell had enough pace to respond.

He crossed the line 1.360 seconds ahead of Leclerc, securing the Sprint victory and eight valuable championship points.

After a strong start to the Dutch GP weekend, Mercedes have shown they are serious contenders at Zandvoort.

🔴 Leclerc Charges to Second

One of the standout performances came from Charles Leclerc.

Ferrari went for an aggressive strategy by putting Leclerc on the soft tyre, and it paid off.

Leclerc spent much of the race chasing Lando Norris before finally making his move on Lap 18.

He attacked the McLaren into Turn 1 and took second place.

Leclerc then tried to close down Russell, but the Mercedes driver had enough pace to stay ahead.

Still, second place represents a brilliant result for Leclerc and Ferrari.

🟠 Norris Has to Settle for Third

It wasn't quite the Sprint Lando Norris would have wanted.

Starting from the front row, Norris had an opportunity to challenge Russell for the victory.

But as the race developed, he couldn't quite match the Mercedes driver's pace.

Things became even more difficult when Leclerc arrived behind him.

After losing second place to the Ferrari, Norris eventually crossed the line in third position.

It's still a podium and valuable points for McLaren, but they'll be hoping for more from the rest of the Dutch GP weekend.

⚫ Antonelli Takes Fourth

Championship leader Kimi Antonelli finished fourth for Mercedes.

Antonelli made progress at the start and got himself ahead of Oscar Piastri, but he wasn't able to challenge the leading three.

While fourth still brings home points, teammate Russell's victory means the championship battle has become a little closer.

That's something we'll definitely be keeping an eye on here at The Pit Wall.

🇳🇱 Verstappen Finishes Sixth at Home

Thousands of Dutch fans arrived at Zandvoort hoping to see Max Verstappen fighting for victory.

Unfortunately, it wasn't to be.

Verstappen finished the Sprint in sixth position, behind Oscar Piastri.

The Red Bull driver tried to put pressure on Piastri towards the end of the race but couldn't find a way past.

Red Bull haven't looked as comfortable as Mercedes, McLaren or Ferrari this weekend, leaving Verstappen with plenty of work to do.

But you can never completely count Max out — especially at Zandvoort.

🔴 Hamilton Takes Two Points

Lewis Hamilton brought his Ferrari home in seventh.

It wasn't quite the performance Ferrari teammate Leclerc produced at the front, but Hamilton still added two points to his total.

With the championship battle continuing to develop, every point could become important later in the season.

🌧️ Rain Arrives — Just Too Late!

And then came the rain!

Just as Russell was approaching the chequered flag, rain started falling around Zandvoort.

It was too late to change the outcome, but it gave us a glimpse of just how different the race could have been if it had arrived a few laps earlier.

🎙️ The Pit Wall Verdict

The biggest winner from the Sprint has to be George Russell.

He started from pole, controlled the race and delivered when Mercedes needed him to.

Leclerc also deserves plenty of credit. Ferrari's tyre gamble worked, and his late move on Norris was one of the highlights of the Sprint.

For McLaren, there's still work to do, while Red Bull will be searching for answers after Verstappen could only manage sixth at his home circuit.

And with rain appearing right at the end, the unpredictable Zandvoort weather could still have a part to play this weekend.

The Dutch Grand Prix is far from over.
